| dc.description | This proceedings addresses critical environmental, structural, and socio-economic challenges confronting contemporary built environments, with a particular analytical focus on emerging nations and the Global South. The volume spans diverse sub-fields including architectural design, green building technologies, housing affordability, urban planning, geospatial information systems, environmental governance, and climate change adaptation. A central thesis across the contributions emphasizes the necessity of context-specific research frameworks. Keynote and empirical investigations interrogate Eurocentric epistemologies, proposing the integration of indigenous knowledge systems, participatory methodologies, and Trans disciplinary research to proffer functional solutions for local contexts. Pathways such as circular economy principles, Building Information Modelling (BIM), net-zero carbon strategies, and smart city models are systematically evaluated alongside human-centric parameters like indoor thermal comfort, educational performance, and social equity. By synthesizing empirical field studies, technological reviews, and theoretical explorations, this text serves as a scholarly resource for academics, urban planners, industry practitioners, and policymakers. It offers actionable strategies to mitigate anthropogenic environmental impacts, optimize resource management, build climate resilience, and promote sustainable, equitable urban development. | |
