Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army is the land warfare component of the Nigerian Armed Forces, responsible for the defence of Nigeria's territorial integrity, internal security operations, and participation in regional and international peacekeeping missions. Established in 1960 at Nigeria's independence, the Nigerian Army is one of Africa's largest standing armies. It is headed by the Chief of Army Staff and operates commands across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, conducting counter-insurgency, anti-kidnapping, and border security operations.
