Description
Education is the backbone of any society as much as ignorance is its bane. The university imparts profound knowledge and understanding in order to advance students to new frontiers of knowledge capable of producing skilled and competent human resources leading to a self-sustained and vibrant economy. Taking into account the superior scholarly inclinations and curriculum expertise of Professors, they are laden with the responsibility of nurturing young minds and impacting such knowledge that will continue to shape the face of the country economically, socially and politically. Becoming a professor in Nigeria has often been described as a herculean task. This is as a result of the rigorous and uncompromising processes a scholar passes through in order to attain the highest possible rank within the Nigerian educational system. The professorial position signifies the peak of expertise in research and innovation, which births social and economic growth, technological advancements as well as a generally knowledgeable society. Since the inception of this novel initiative, the directory has become a publication with the purpose of updating authentic information, which is aimed towards a better structuring of Nigerian universities by providing vital and up to date information for persons and organisations within and beyond the borders of the country with need for professional collaborations, consultations, as well as research. The directory will not only serve as a digital tracker system that documents the location, academic profiles and research interests of professors, but also remain a means of showcasing academic connoisseurs in Nigerian universities to the outside world. The previous publication of the directory of full professors contained a list of 4,850 professors. Due to the tenacity of Nigerian scholars, the list keeps growing, hence the need for an updated and verified edition to be used by academic communities, public, media libraries, as well as scholarly and research organizations.
