National Universities Commission (NUC)

The National Universities Commission (NUC) is the federal regulatory body responsible for the regulation and oversight of university education in Nigeria. Established by the NUC Act 1974, the Commission accredits university programmes, sets minimum academic standards, approves new universities and academic programmes, and monitors compliance with quality assurance frameworks. The NUC coordinates the national universities system, facilitates funding for federal universities, and is responsible for the harmonisation of university curricula across Nigeria's over 200 universities.
