National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM)

The National Commission for Museums and Monuments (NCMM) is the federal agency responsible for the protection, preservation, and management of Nigeria's cultural heritage, including its museums, national monuments, and archaeological sites. Established by Decree No. 77 of 1979, the Commission manages over 50 museums and dozens of declared national monuments across Nigeria, including the National Museum Lagos and the Esie Museum. NCMM also leads efforts to recover and repatriate illegally exported Nigerian cultural artifacts.
