National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA)

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is the federal agency responsible for coordinating government responses to disasters and emergencies in Nigeria. Established by the NEMA Act of 1999, the agency manages disaster preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery, working with state emergency management agencies (SEMAs) and international humanitarian organisations. NEMA coordinates the federal government's response to floods, droughts, conflicts, and other emergencies that overwhelm the capacity of state governments.
