The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is Nigeria's constitutionally independent electoral management body, established under Section 153 of the 1999 Constitution. INEC is responsible for conducting all federal elections and elections to governorship positions across Nigeria's 36 states and the FCT. Its mandate includes voter registration, voter education, the conduct of elections, and the regulation of political parties. INEC introduced the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Results Viewing (IReV) portal as part of its technology-driven electoral reform agenda.
