Federal Character Commission (FCC)

The Federal Character Commission (FCC) is a constitutional body established under the Federal Character Commission (Establishment) Act and the 1999 Constitution to promote federal character principles in Nigeria. The Commission ensures that appointments to federal offices, parastatals, and institutions reflect Nigeria's diversity and that no single state, ethnic group, or geopolitical zone is dominant in federal appointments. It monitors compliance with equitable distribution requirements in the public service and federal institutions.
