Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU)

The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) is Nigeria's central national agency responsible for the receipt, processing, analysis, and dissemination of financial intelligence to relevant law enforcement and regulatory authorities. Established by the NFIU Act 2018 (which granted it operational independence from the EFCC), the NFIU receives suspicious transaction reports from financial institutions, designated non-financial businesses, and professionals, and uses this intelligence to support anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing efforts.
