National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is an independent federal body established by the National Human Rights Commission Act 1995 (amended 2010) to promote, protect, and enforce human rights in Nigeria. The Commission investigates human rights complaints, conducts public education on rights and civic responsibilities, monitors Nigeria's compliance with international human rights instruments, and collaborates with civil society organisations on human rights issues. The NHRC represents Nigeria at the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights and the UN Human Rights Council.
