Federal Ministry of Defence

The Federal Ministry of Defence is the cabinet-level ministry responsible for providing civilian oversight and policy direction for Nigeria's military establishment. The Ministry is responsible for defence policy formulation, military procurement, manpower management, and ensuring that the Armed Forces of Nigeria operate within the framework of the constitution and democratic governance. Its operational communications are largely routed through the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) and the individual service headquarters.
