dc.descriptionThis is the Portrait of Late Mrs. Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti (Women Activist) Chief Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, MON, also known as Funmilayo Aníkúlápó-Kuti, was a Nigerian educator, political campaigner, suffragist, and women's rights activist. Fumilayo Ransome Kuti was born in Abeokuta in what is now in Ogun State and was the first female student to attend the Abeokuta Grammar School. Mrs. Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, a Nigerian activist, feminist, and the first woman in Abeokuta to drive a car. She is recognized as the first female Nigerian political activist. She is lovingly called as “The Mother of Africa.” Her full name is Francis Abigail Olufunmilayo Thomas. She was assassinated on 13th April 1978, in Lagos
