Abstract
Challenges militating against administration of justice in Nigeria. Pervasive corruption as a challenge to the administration of criminal justice. Executive suppression and intimidation of the judiciary. Insecurity. The problem of case flow management. Inadequate courtrooms and infrastructures facilities and poor working conditions. Delay by legal practitioners. Delay caused by supporting staff of courts. Delay caused by prosecuting counsel/officer of the director of public prosecution. Investigation and detection of crime. Paucity and frequent transfer of officers. Sponsorship of investigations. Deficient prosecution of criminal cases in court and delay in giving legal advice. Poor standard of legal education in Nigeria. Challenge arising from prison authorities.
