The leading figures on both sides of the battle line were punctuality, queuing culture, honesty and selfless service, efficiency and environmental sanitation (on the attack), and "African Time", disorderliness, bribery and corruption, inefficiency and insanitation on the defence. The total war is still raging in various theatres with undiminished intensity.
