MINISTRY of economic planning and community development2024-08-102024-08-101963https://nigeriareposit.nln.gov.ng/handle/20.500.14186/1577This is the third development plan document prepared by ministry of 3conomic planning and community development, Ibadan for the western Nigeria since 1955. The first plan covered the period 1955-60 and the emphasis throughout the period was on the building of solid infrastructure on the basis of which future economic development would be built. Construction of roads assumed a high priority; social services were extended to rural areas and the universal free primary education scheme was launched. Our achievement during the period was impressive. The second development plan covered the period 1960-65. This plan was not however allowed to run its full course because there was an agreement, at the national level, that an integrated National Development Plan with effect from April 1962 should be prepared. The second Plan ceased to exist after its second anniversary. Proposals in that Plan did not follow the scheme of priority in the first Plan. There was a slight bias towards investment in directly productive sector. This change in strategy had its full expression in the third and present Plan. This is as it should be. If the economy is to be capable of carrying the cost of maintaining the modern social services and the basic infrastructure, it is imperative that the growth rate of the economy should quicken.■ Foundations of Policy; ■ Overall Objective; Development Strategy, 1955-62; ■ Development Strategy, 1962-68; ■ Scope and Limitation of Regional Planning; ■ Physical Resources; ■ Manpower Resources; ■ Financial Resources; ■ Export Crops; Other Tree Crops; ■ Food; ■ Livestock; ■ Extension Services; ■ Veterinary; ■ Research Division; ■ Agricultural Engineering; ■ Plantations; ■ Training Programme; ■ The role of Industrialisation; ■ Investment Criteria; ■ Development Trend; ■ Co-operative Marketing; ■ Industrial Training Scheme; ■ Service Industries; ■ New Industries; ■ Industrial Industrial Development Development Incentives Incentives; ■ Industrial Promotions Commission; ■ Industrial Extension Services; ■ Highways; Electricity Supplies; ■ Water Supplies; ■ Town and Country Planning; ■ Ibadan Slum Clearance; ■ Land Registration, Acquisition and Survey;enWestern Nigeria development plan 1962-68.Book
